Kevin Durant is one of the best prospects to enter the NBA in the last 20 years and has made his mark as one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen.
Just like many top picks before him, Durant’s first game in NBA colors came at Summer League. Durant saw a clip of a 29-point night during the 2007 Summer League and shared a story of what happened between a fan and a police officer while heading into the gym for that game.
“I remember watching a fan knock a police officer out as soon as I walked off the bus to go into the gym, time flies.”

Durant’s Summer League performances weren’t as impressive as many expected them to be, as he averaged 24.0 points on 33% shooting. He struggled to find an offensive rhythm and didn’t project to be one of the most efficient high-volume scorers in the league after those performances. Safe to say, Summer League doesn’t define the player you become.
Kevin Durant Pushing To Win In Phoenix
The Phoenix Suns are as all-in as possible, having traded the rights to every single first-round pick from now to 2030. They’ll have their 2031 pick blocked due to them being over the second apron of the luxury tax, but it could be worth it if they can emerge as champions this season.
The Suns have reshaped their roster around Durant, Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Bradley Beal really well. They have no backup guards beyond Jordan Goodwin after trading Cam Payne away to open a roster spot for Bol Bol. Everyone will be fascinated to see how this top-heavy team with versatile wings and bigs on the bench performs throughout the season and whether they can return to the Finals.
