The entirety of the NBA world often indulges in speculative debates about players that they would add to their all-time starting fives. Whether it’s the five best in each position or specific lineups which may be complementary, it’s an exercise everyone loves doing.

Kevin Garnett recently revealed his own starting five while on a podcast with basketball influencer and coach, The Professor. KG snubbed both LeBron James and Michael Jordan to select a team to his liking.

“I am the one. I have got AI at my two. I’m gonna play Kobe at the three, oooo. I’m gonna throw everybody for a loop with this one but we got, I’m gonna go Wilt and Bill Russell at my four and five. Bill Russell will guard Shaq and imma put Wilt on Kareem.”

Garnett’s lineup has to be one of the most unique ones we have seen. Snubbing both Jordan and LeBron is quite incredible, but these are all-time players. The margin of error is relatively slim, and KG still has a lineup full of the greatest to ever touch the court.

Kevin Garnett Hit A Home Run

His starting five is easy to hate, but it does work like a charm. He wanted himself to run the point guard, and while KG had a solid handle and passing skills for his size, Allen Iverson should be the one in that role. Kobe Bryant in the backcourt next to him will create explosive scoring and hounding perimeter defense. They can score on everyone and stop everyone if needed.

Garnett would use his mobility and versatility to be a free-roam defender that guards opposing forwards. He can guard the perimeter extremely well and could kill it there, especially with the two giants behind him.

Wilt Chamberlain wasn’t as dominant defensively, but he’s one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen. With Bill Russell being arguably the greatest or second-greatest big-man defender in league history, this lineup would dominate against most all-time teams put against them.
