Kevin Garnett was all praise for Victor Wembanyama, who is all set to be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, saying his predecessors Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic weren’t as polished as the prospect the Frenchman was.

Speaking on Showtime’s KG Certified, the former Boston Celtics stat told Paul Pierce that he had never seen a phenomenon like Wembanyama.

“S**t, Giannis, and Joker didn’t look this polished as a prospect at this age as a kid. So what you saying, he fits right into the narrative of what we’re saying.”

Hailed as the next-best generational prospect since LeBron James, the expectations for the young center have reached sky-high heights, and Garnett is one of those who has high hopes for Wembanyama. On his part, the potential San Antonio Spurs star knows he has high expectations from himself

“I have such high expectations for myself and I’m so determined that the expectations of others are nothing compared to what I place on myself. I really have my goals inside and nothing can distract me from it,” he said. “It’s not that hard to be able to.”

It remains to be seen if he maintains and radiates the same level of immense self-confidence over the course of his NBA career.

Kevin Garnett And Paul Pierce Believe The Scouting Teams Must Pay More Attention To European And African Players

In the same vein, while discussing Victor Wembanyama, both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were of the agreement that the scouting teams in the NBA must keep extensive records of European and African players.

“If I am in the front office now, I’d put more stock in the European scout team,” Pierce said, to which Garnett replied: “And African too. Let me say this, the Europeans ain’t just playing, they are dominating.”

Their statements are accurate and in line with our opinions. Earlier, we wrote that the European players will dominate the NBA and that the USA stars will have a fight on their hands to win MVP.

With Nikola Jokic winning Finals MVP, and Joel Embiid winning MVP this past season, it’s safe to say, Jokic is the best player in the world, and the likes of Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and even Luka Doncic are right up their as European stars who have shone brightly in the league.

The emphasis on European players has been significant in pop culture as well. For instance, the movies ‘Rise’ and ‘Hustle’ are more than just movies that boast of big names. It’s a gentle reminder that European prospects can actually ball out.
