Point guard Damian Lillard is still one of the top superstars in the NBA, and there’s no doubt that he is a stellar offensive player. Despite his individual brilliance, the Portland Trail Blazers are one of the worst teams in the league.

There is no doubt that there has been a lot of speculation about Damian Lillard potentially getting traded this off-season. Recently, Kevin Garnett suggested that he should get traded to the New York Knicks.

“Listen, if Dame Lillard gets to New York, and he does what he does in Portland in New York, he’ll be considered one of the best to ever to it. Like already,” said Garnett.

“If he had 71 in the Garden like he did in the Rose Garden…it’d be bigger than life, that’s what I’m saying. Dame Lillard to New York, Knicks fans don’t even know what they’re [getting]. We’d have to go see that. We’d have to go pull up.”

There is no doubt that adding Damian Lillard to a young team that features two All-Star caliber players in Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson could be appealing. This isn’t the first time that Damian Lillard has been linked to the Knicks either, as Stephen A. Smith once claimed that the Knicks could be a destination for him if his extension talks fell through. As of right now, though, there is no indication of a move happening this offseason.

Currently, Damian Lillard is averaging 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG for the Portland Trail Blazers. It is clear that he has had a stellar season, and hopefully, he’ll be on a more competitive team next season, whether it is with the Portland Trail Blazers or otherwise.

Shams Charania Said That Damian Lillard And Portland Trail Blazers Will Have “Real Conversations” About His Future

Damian Lillard is 32 as of right now, and he doesn’t necessarily match up with the timeline of the team’s prospects, such as Shaedon Sharpe. He is also a player that deserves to be on a competitive team. Recently, Shams Charania suggested that there will be “real conversations” between Lillard and the Trail Blazers about whether he should continue playing for the team.

“You have to wonder if he’s going to play another game for the Portland Trail Blazers,” he said. “I expect there to be real conversations this off-season.”

This is definitely an interesting situation to monitor, and Damian Lillard could be a difference-maker for any team that acquires him. It remains to be seen if he does, in fact, get traded, though, as Damian Lillard has consistently prioritized his loyalty to the franchise that drafted him.
