Kyrie Irving went off on an OKC Thunder fan sitting courtside down the stretch of the Mavericks 119-110 win over the Thunder. As Irving went to the line for a free throw, he looked at a fan who had been trash-talking him all game and sent him a simple message while mocking him.

“Bye bye pu**y.”

Irving seemingly responded to the fan treatment he received through Games 1 and 2 in Oklahoma in the tunnel after the win.

“It’s truly Oklahoma, I’ll tell you that.”

Irving ended Game 2 with nine points and 11 assists. Many would look at the box score and think Irving had a let-down game, but he was one of the most effective Mavericks on the night. His on-ball defense was solid, his playmaking was exceptional, and his effort level was as high as it can be. The only problem was that his shot wasn’t falling.

The series is heading back to Dallas for Games 3 and 4, explaining why Irving said bye-bye to the heckling fan. The Mavericks will hope they can have a 3-1 lead by the time they return to OKC for Game 5.

Kyrie Irving Went Off On Treatment By Fan In OKC

Kyrie Irving had some tense moments over the first two games of the series, in particular, while talking to a bunch of fans courtside in OKC, They hilariously took the ball away from Luka Doncic in an in-bounds play and threw it away. Irving stuck up for Luka at the moment and brought it up after Game 2.

“Yeah the fans threw the ball away from Luka, and then he looked like, like — where I’m from, when somebody does that, that’s like almost it’s like, and he didn’t even look at Luka eye to eye, and Luka was very nonchalant about it like he was very cool about it, and for a fan to do that, then that’s my time to step in as a teammate and be like, what the fuck? What the fuck are you doing? Excuse my language for that.”

Irving elaborated on his interaction with the fan.

“I asked him, like, what are you doing? This is not about you right now. You know, you’re not even wearing the Thunder blue shirt. You’re trying to distinguish yourself out here. You’re trying to get on Twitter to stay active. Like, I know, come on, that’s our generation that we’re in. Everybody’s trying to go viral when they’re at NBA games instead of focusing on the players and the task at hand. So, when you do that to my teammate, of course, I’m going to stand up.”

Irving finished his eloquent answer about how the desire to win is motivated by the heckling.

“It was the same guys there. Different guys heckling, but little do they know that, that motivates us. We’re at OKC, we understand that we lost last game, they have the advantage, but we know how to quiet a crowd and us continuing to be physical, continuing to score baskets, and then at the end of the game in the fourth quarter, we can heckle them back.”

Irving has a reason to be upset, as NBA fans are heavily penalized for interacting with fans. While Kyrie could have gotten a color card issued, it’s a good sign he didn’t try to influence his power on the court for decisions like this.
