Kyrie Irving was asked a strange question by a fan at a recent unidentified pro-am game. The fan asked Irving which celebrity would he use his ‘hall pass’ on, a term used to describe a pass that allows people in relationships to be unfaithful. Irving smartly refused to answer the question and shouted out his wife, Marlene Wilkerson, and his children.

“Oh nah. I love my wife, Marlene Wilkerson… Shout out to my wife and my kids.”

Kyrie Irving and Marlene Wilkerson have reportedly been together since 2018 when Wilkerson was spotted at one of Irving’s youth basketball camps. The two never confirmed their relationship status, but rumors began to emerge when Wilkerson was seen with a ring on her finger less than a year later.

Since getting together, the pair have gotten married and welcomed two children into the world. The two are very private about their relationship, but Irving uses social media regularly to show love to his wife and his family. This clip shows how much love and respect Irving has for his wife.

While the question itself was highly inappropriate, Irving handled it very well and showed maturity and class. Irving’s ability to handle the media, in all shapes and sizes, has come a long way since his days with the Celtics and the Nets. Irving was a lightning rod for media members during his stints with the Celtics and the Nets.

But since joining the Mavericks, Irving has turned not only his career around but greatly improved his reputation amongst the media. He has become the calm, centered veteran on the roster, who guides the young players along with Luka Doncic, through the league.

Kyrie Irving Convinced Klay Thompson To Join The Mavericks

Kyrie Irving has fully bought into being a Mavericks player. And during free agency, he helped them land a massive player. Chris Haynes reported that Kyrie Irving was a pivotal figure in the Mavericks being able to land Klay Thompson in a sign-and-trade deal with the Golden State Warriors.

“Kyrie Irving was a big pivotal somebody who was very instrumental in recruiting Klay Thompson to Dallas, he was in Klay Thompson’s ear. That’s always gonna speak volumes. You know the mutual respect that Kyrie and Klay have for each other, being in those duels between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors.”

Irving has been the star the Mavericks have long sought after to pair with Luka Doncic. And after an initial rough start, the Mavericks saw great success thanks to this duo. Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds, as he and Doncic secured the fifth seed.

The duo led the way for the Mavs, as they conquered the Clippers, Thunder, and Timberwolves to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011. It was an incredible accomplishment for Irving, especially in his first full season with the Mavericks.

While the journey didn’t end well, as the Mavs lost to the Celtics in five games, there is reason for optimism. Irving himself spoke after the NBA Finals and noted that he expects the Mavericks to be back competing next season for a championship. With the addition of Klay Thompson, there is good reason for Mavs fans to be optimistic.
