Kyrie Irving spoke about his time since moving to the Mavericks after Game 5, noting that it has been a great new chapter that has helped him find his peace. Irving praised the sense of community among the fanbase and the city at large for being so welcoming toward him and his family.

“I feel like it’s a great chapter that’s being written right now. I’m enjoying every step of the way, I’m not taking anything for granted. I’m enjoying the hot weather right now, I’m enjoying the Dallas community, and the fans here. You know we talked about this earlier in the season, just how much I felt embraced, but I think it’s gone a little deeper than that. It’s really helped me grow as a human being and find my peace out here.”

Irving added that he has experienced good weather in Dallas, as compared to the cities in the North East where he spent much of his career, and that has helped his mental health greatly. He suggested that his family is happy in Dallas, which in turn, has caused him great happiness.

“It’s good to breathe fresh air, get outside. Seasonal depression is real when you’re growing up up north. I spent 12 years in the Eastern Conference in three cold cities that deal with four seasons, so you come out here and you’re able to get outside and ground yourself a little bit more and spend some time with your family, watch your kids run outside. Wife’s happy. You know what they say about a happy wife … happy life.”

Kyrie Irving sounds thrilled to be playing for the Mavericks, after a tenuous few years in his career. Irving’s reputation among fans and analysts alike has improved greatly during his stint as a Mavericks player, and he has gotten back to his very best since teaming up with Luka Doncic.

Kyrie Irving At Home With The Mavericks

Kyrie Irving has become an integral part of the Mavericks’ roster, and a fan favorite for the franchise. But even people outside of the franchise have come to his defense during this playoff run. Recently, former Lakers’ assistant coach Phil Handy defended Kyrie Irving after he reached the NBA Finals for the first time in his career.

Irving spoke recently about playing against the Celtics, his former franchise, and how he feels about that. Unlike previous occasions, Irving didn’t antagonize the franchise and spoke positively about his time there and the chance to play against them once again, with such high stakes.

“I am at a place in my life where I don’t consider those past moments. I was able to unpack them in a healthy way, move forward as a person. I had a rough time there when I was in Boston, just dealing with a death in my family and off-court stuff I wasn’t ready to handle.”

“Now that I am in a great place to be able to vocalize how I’m feeling, I’m ready to go back into Boston and have fun with my teammates. I know we’re going to be locked in and we’re going against a great Boston team that has earned their way to the NBA Finals. I see them as a formidable opponent, an honest opponent, and we’re going to see the best team win.”

Irving has played spectacular basketball during the playoffs, averaging 22.8 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds. He and Luka Doncic have proven themselves to be the best duo in the playoffs this year. But their main goal was and still is to win the NBA championship. And they will have to do so by defeating a formidable Celtics team.
