Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic had the chance to play together for the first time on Saturday night, taking the Dallas Mavericks to OT against the Sacramento Kings, although they couldn’t finish the job and ended up losing a hard-fought game, 133-128.

These two are expected to do great things together and lead the Mavs to have another deep playoff run. Last year, Luka and Jalen Brunson took them to the Western Conference Finals, but the Golden State Warriors were too much to bear, ending the Mavs’ hopes to play in the Finals.

This season, however, they have renewed hopes, and many expect that the addition of Kyrie works fine for them. The point guard brings a lot to the table for the Mavericks, who finally feel like they have a duo that can win it all.

Kyrie Irving Showed His Excitement To Play With Luka Doncic

After their hard-fought match against the Sacramento Kings, Kyrie opened up on his first game with Luka, showing his excitement to share touches with one of the best players in the league right now. As soon as he stepped on the court, Kyrie was in a festive mood, and he didn’t hesitate to show it.

“Let’s just get this party started,” Irving said, via the Dallas Morning News. “Let’s just get this thing going. Let’s hoop. Really simple.”

Luka also opened up on this new situation, sharing his excitement about the new partnership.

“Amazing, man,” Doncic said. “I think it’s so fun to play with this guy. He’s an amazing basketball player, and I think it’s going to be really fun.”

The Mavericks have a great opportunity to do something great this season. The Western Conference is stacked right now, and even though other teams like the Phoenix Suns look like bigger favorites for the championship, the Mavericks know they can do a lot with their new duo.

The Doncic-Irving era didn’t start the best way, but they still showed out for their team. Irving posted 28 points, with 7 rebounds and 7 assists, while Luka added 27 points, with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. As soon as the wins start coming, it’ll be scary hours for their rivals.
