The Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks served up a thriller on Friday night.

The Lakers had seemingly taken control of the game in the fourth quarter, but Dallas then went on a 9-3 run in the last three minutes of the game, with Maxi Kleber drilling the game-winner at the buzzer to get them the 111-110 win.

Lakers fans were understandably distraught after the loss.

“The Anthony Davis experience needs to be over.” said a fan who has had enough of Anthony Davis on the Lakers.

“AD needs to be locked in the gym until he makes 100 free throws in a row. Embarrassing he misses clutch FTs all the time. On top of fouling that 3 pt shot???? This is on him.” fans continued to pile on Davis for his mistakes toward the end of the game.

“We lost this because of our free throw shooting. So bad.. we can’t lose games like this..” said a fan who believes their bad free throw shooting cost them this one.

“AD when it matters.” a Lakers fan mocked Davis by comparing him to Draymond Green.

“Trade fraud Davis.” another Lakers fan here wants Davis out from the team.

Anthony Davis finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block but cost them the game down the stretch. He fouled Kleber which led to three free throws when the Lakers were up 109-105 and then on the next possession, missed one of two free throws which could have put the Lakers up by three. He then left Kleber open for the game-winner.

Free throws were a problem all game for L.A., as they shot just 19-30 from the line. They were also just 5-20 from beyond the arc and it is incredible that they still should have won the game despite all that. For the Mavericks, Kyrie Irving had 38 points and he really carried them for much of that fourth quarter. He also had the presence of mind to pass it to Kleber for that game-winner. With this win, the Mavs climb up to 6th in Western Conference with a 36-35 record while the Lakers fell to 10th and are now 34-37.

These Last Two Games Might End Up Costing The Lakers

A run of four wins in five games had seen the Lakers in a prime position to perhaps even get the 6th seed but they’ve followed it up with back-breaking losses to the Houston Rockets and the Mavericks. Just when it seems like this team has figured things out, they take a step back and this loss is going to sting for a while.

They’ll be taking on the Orlando Magic next and a defeat there would catastrophic. We have seen Davis respond to poor showings with some dominant displays and the Lakers would be hoping for one on Sunday.
