LeBron James is the newest leader for two-pointers made in the playoffs, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with his first bucket in Game 4 of Warriors vs. Lakers.

James sits at 2,360 two-pointers made, leaving Kareem behind at 2,357 and taking the top spot. LeBron can add to this record as the playoffs continue, with the second half of Game 4 still yet to come.

James hit a skyhook for his first 2-pointer in the game, a possibly unintentional homage to the man who he just overtook on this list.

The closest active player to LeBron on this list is Kevin Durant, who is currently 17th with 1,268 two-pointers made. He is 79 made shots behind 16th-place Dwyane Wade, who retired with 1,347 two-pointers made.

LeBron James has proven to the world that he belongs with the most hallowed legends of the sport, and he’s going to add more accolades to his name before retiring. He already owns multiple playoff records, and now he’s added another.

LeBron James Keeps Making History

James is breaking some of the oldest records in the history of the NBA in his 20th season. He became the all-time scoring leader during the regular season, surpassing Kareem for the same record. LeBron has played 38 more playoff games at this point than Kareem, but surpassing a center for such a record is extremely impressive, given the scoring arsenal LeBron has with three-pointers as well.

The only historic stat that James is going to concern himself with is adding a fifth championship to his resume this season. That may not happen if the Lakers lose Game 4 of this series and allow the Warriors to retake homecourt advantage ahead of Game 5. The Lakers will need to win another road game to save this series if they lose Game 4.

The Warriors lead the Lakers by three points at halftime. Golden State is notorious for its strength in the third quarter and will look to bury the Lakers under a stream of shots in this second half to go back to the Chase Center with a 2-2 series.
