There are little things we could say about LeBron James that haven’t been said already. It goes without saying that he’s one of the greatest athletes of all time, a born-winner, and a unique talent like we may never see again in the NBA.

Then again, it feels like somehow, we’re just taking LeBron for granted. Sometimes it’s just incredible that he’s not the MVP, and not because of the winners are undeserving but because of how impactful he’s for his teams.

In fact, Chris Palmer recently noted that The King has only been outside of the Top 5 in MVP voting twice on his career: during his rookie season, and last year when he was injured. That’s a testament of how durable he’s been over 17 years:

LeBron James each year in MVP voting:

2004: 9th (Rookie)
2005: 6th
2006: 2nd
2007: 5th
2008: 4th
2009: 1st
2010: 1st
2011: 3rd
2012: 1st
2013: 1st
2014: 2nd
2015: 3rd
2016: 3rd
2017: 4th
2018: 2nd
2019: 11th (Injured)
2020: 2nd

Don’t get me wrong, I do believe Giannis Antetokounmpo is deserving of his MVP. Then again, the fact that James has been able to stay dominant and relevant for almost two decades speaks volumes. Give credit where credit’s due: LeBron James has been the NBA’s true MVP for a very, very, long time.
