LeBron James Explains His ‘Never Getting Back To 100%’ Comments

2 Min Read

A couple of weeks ago, LeBron James set the alarms for the Los Angeles Lakers after claiming he would never return to 100% in his career. The King suffered a high ankle injury on March 20 in a game vs. the Atlanta Hawks

After returning to action in May, the 4x NBA champion claimed that he would never return to his best level, raising many eyebrows around the league. It’s odd to hear those comments from LeBron so often, which led everybody to wonder what he actually meant by that.

In the most recent edition of his HBO talk show, “The Shop: Uninterrupted,” Bron addressed these comments, explaining that he wouldn’t get to 100% but a number really close to that.

“People are so literal. It’s ridiculous,” James said. “Once you start playing as a professional, you’re at 99.9%. [Before that], you’re 100%. As soon as you step out for training camp your rookie year, you’re at 99.9%. So I’ll never get back to 100%, you know, I’ve been playing for 18 years. Now, 99.9%… For sure.”

As you can see, there was a simple explanation for these claims. Many fans believed this was LeBron admitting father time caught him or injuries actually hurting his game.

Of course, there was more behind his words, but it wasn’t like he gave up on his career.

The Los Angeles Lakers are playing the Phoenix Suns tonight in Game 5 of their first-round playoffs series. Even with Anthony Davis sidelined for this game, LeBron’s team will try to surprise the Suns again and get a 3-2 lead against the 2nd seed in the Western Conference.
