LeBron James is the man the Los Angeles Lakers have to keep happy if they want any chance at serious success in what remains of this season. The King has been on a different level this season as he continues to approach Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record, but there is now a legitimate reason for him to be a little miffed with his team.

The Los Angeles Lakers need reinforcements if they are going to make a deep playoff run. As things stand, they could still make it to the playoffs, but they will likely lose at that point. Moving on from Russell Westbrook is something many fans want to see happen. And they had to perfect opportunity to make a big splash after Kyrie Irving requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets.

Things turned out differently, though, the Dallas Mavericks struck a deal to bring Irving in, and the Lakers missed out. LeBron James put out a cryptic tweet after the news broke, indicating that he is feeling quite down about the whole situation. And he has now made his feelings on the matter even more clear.

LeBron James Is Disappointed That The Lakers Weren’t Able To Get Kyrie Irving

Adding an All-Star starter to their roster, one who has experience playing with LeBron James, would have made all the difference for the Lakers. But they couldn’t push the deal through, reportedly thanks to Joe Tsai’s decisions as well, and it has left their superstar feeling quite dejected.

“Well, definitely disappointed. I can’t sit here and say I’m not disappointed at not being able to land such a talent. But someone I had and I know I got great chemistry with on the floor that can help you win championships in my eyes.

“But my focus has shifted now, my focus has shifted to what he have now in the club, in this locker room. It don’t take me long. I don’t get too excited about the possibilities of things that can be, but I don’t invest all the way into it until it’s done. And when it does not happen, I’m back locked in on the job at hand… We move on, we finish the season strong.”

LeBron James was seemingly prepared for the eventuality that the deal wouldn’t go through. But it’s got to hurt knowing that getting Kyrie would have given them an instant shot at the championship. If the Lakers end up making no trades before the deadline though, it’ll certainly be interesting to see what James has to say at that point.
