As arguably, the greatest basketball player ever, LeBron James knows a superstar when he sees one, and there’s no mistaking that Nikola Jokic is one of the best of the best. This year, while the Joker did not win his third MVP, he did even better by leading his team to the Finals and shutting down the haters once and for all. So by the time it was all said and done, and the Lakers dropped their fourth straight game to the Nuggets, it became clear to everyone that not even LeBron could prevent them from reaching the Finals.

Speaking to the media, James was in oddly high spirits after the loss as he spoke on all sorts of topics ranging from Carmelo Anthony’s retirement to Nikola Jokic’s dominance. he also spoke on the road ahead and his future with the Lakers in the aftermath of a crushing end to the season:

“I got a lot to think about. … Just personally, with me moving forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about.”

It’s hard to say for sure what LeBron means by this, but many have suggested it could be hitting at retirement for James, who admitted after Game 4 that there are no moral victories for him at this stage of his career.

What’s Next For The Lakers After Failed Title Run?

Considering where this team started, it’s a miracle the Lakers were even in this position in the first place. They were 2-10 at some point this season, and made it all the way to the Conference Finals before being beaten by a deeper and overall better team.

While LeBron is still under contract with the Lakers, next season could be his last with the Lakers given his intentions to team up with his son, Bronny, when he gets drafted.

So if the Lakers want to stay competitive, they need to go all-in this summer and do whatever they can to bring more talent around James and Anthony Davis. It will be easier said than done, of course, but LeBron deserves to compete and as long as he’s healthy, the Lakers will have a chance against almost any team.
