LeBron James’ career in the NBA is a thing of beauty. But with the Los Angeles Lakers superstar soon turning 38 years old, fans have to accept the fact that we will not witness his greatness for long.
Although LeBron takes amazing care of his body, there is only so much he can do to avoid the inevitable. Anyway, before LeBron retires, he will have an even more amazing resume than what he has as of now.
There is a possibility that James could win a couple of more rings before retiring. But there is no confirmation about it. There is another record that James is now closing in on, and the way he played last season, it’s all but certain that he will break that record in the upcoming season.
We are talking about none other than passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of most points scored in NBA history. Kareem currently sits at the top with 38387 points to his name.
Right behind him is the ever-so-sensational LeBron James, with 37062 points to his name. James is all set to enter the 20th season of his NBA career. Previously, if any NBA player has played for this long, they are already on their last legs.
But in James’ case, he proved in the 2021-22 NBA season that he still has a lot of fuel left in his tank. As for passing Kareem on the all-time scoring list, LeBron only needs to average 16.2 points per game in the 2022-23 NBA season.
LeBron James only needs to average 16.2 PPG next season to pass Kareem for the most points scored in NBA History.

As mentioned in the tweet, LeBron only needs to average 16.2 PPG next season to surpass Kareem’s record.
However, there is a catch as per this calculation LBJ needs to play the entire 82 games in the season. If he doesn’t play 82 games, then his PPG average will go up. Despite that, it seems very likely that he will break Kareem’s record next season and add another jewel to his crown.
