There is no doubt that LeBron James and Stephen Curry are the two players that defined basketball in the 2010s. The duo have faced off against one another in multiple Finals, and they will face each other once again in the second round, as the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors both advanced by beating higher seeds.

Ahead of the upcoming second round series, LeBron James opened up on his respect for Stephen Curry. He lauded Curry for putting in “the work” and added that the two are among the “most competitive players” ever.

“He puts in the work, and when you put in the work, nine times out of 10 you’re going to see results. He’s done that throughout his whole entire career. I have nothing but the utmost respect for everything he’s been able on the floor not only on the floor, but off the floor, too,” said James, per Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints. “It’s great to have people like that in this league and set an example for generations to come. We’re two of the most competitive players that have ever played this game and we want to etch our names in the history books as much as we can. … I got nothing but the greatest respect for Steph.”

Despite their rivalry, it is clear that LeBron James has nothing but respect for Stephen Curry. Hopefully, we see both players play at a high level, and it is bound to be an exciting matchup for basketball fans worldwide.

When Game 7 concluded, we saw Stephen Curry talk about going against the Los Angeles Lakers. He praised them for playing “unbelievable” basketball, noting that “all the pieces” on their team fit together.

“They’ve obviously been a different team since the trade deadline…They’re playing unbelievable. All the pieces fit. It’s going to be a huge test for us.”
