LeBron James Says His Relationship With Anthony Davis Is Like The Movie “Step Brothers.”

2 Min Read

Lakers co-stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are at two opposite ends of their career. Having already cemented his legacy as an All-Time great, King James is entering his 10th Finals comfortable, poised, and in very familiar territory. Meanwhile, for Anthony Davis, he’s preparing to take the mantle from Bron as L.A.’s leader, but he must first prove he can win when the stakes are highest.

Needless to say, this playoff run is a very different experience for both players.

Still, despite the age gap, the two have been a great pairing all season long and seem to have a relationship off the court that is just as strong as their partnership on the court.

In fact, following L.A.’s Game 5 win, LeBron himself compared the relationship between him and Davis to the movie “Step Brothers” starring Will Farrell and John C. Reilly.

“I just don’t want to let him down. And I’m not even talking about on the floor,” James said about Davis. “I don’t want to let him down…And then, it’s funny because it’s kind of rubbed off on me, because he doesn’t want to let me down.”

“You’ve seen the movie Step Brothers before, right? There it is…” he said.

As for which character in the movie James resembles most, he settled that discussion as well.

“I’m Will Ferrell, for sure. I get on his nerves a lot. I go in and mess with his drums when nobody’s watching. That’s me.”

If you’re still confused about the reference, we’ll let you watch the movie and figure it out for yourself. And while their dynamic is obviously a bit different than the one between the brothers in the movie, James’ point is clear: him and A.D. are not strangers.

They’ve got a relationship that will likely last for their lifetimes and it really shows with the way they work with each other on the basketball court.
