LeBron James achieved his goal of becoming an Olympic champion alongside two of his biggest rivals, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant in Paris 2024. The Kings shared an artistic picture that features him, Durant, and Curry sitting on a rooftop with their Gold medals and watching the sunset behind the Eiffel Tower, and the sky is filled with the five Olympic rings.

This experience clearly meant a lot to James, who has confirmed he was representing the USA at the Olympics for the final time.

“No, I can’t see myself playing in Los Angeles 2028. I didn’t see myself playing in Paris 2024 either. But four years from now, I can’t see it.”

This is expected to be the final time for Curry and Durant as well, but KD could further his legacy as the greatest Olympic basketball player ever by returning in 2028 at the age of 40 years old. He likely could make the team at that age too, given how old LeBron is right now.

James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 8.5 assists at the Olympics while Curry averaged 14.8 points on 47.8% from three. The two started every game, with Durant coming off the bench in all games except the Final. He averaged 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists during the tournament, sealing his spot as the country’s all-time leading scorer at the Olympics.

LeBron Made The Effort To Get The Trio To Team Up

LeBron James was reported to have spearheaded the star roster that went to Paris 2024 after years of underwhelming players representing the country at the Olympics because the top stars were unavailable. This cost them badly at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, losing in the semi-finals and failing to medal with a much weaker squad.

James made his desire to play at the Olympics almost instantly known to everyone, messaging the likes of Durant and Curry to join him. Durant revealed the full process behind both LeBron’s and Steph’s commitment in an interview.

“Last summer, ‘Bron started texting everybody, giving his input on who we all think should be on the team, and (asking) if everybody was playing. When we started sending those (kinds of) texts out, I kind of knew we were all going to get together and that this was a special time.

“I knew Steph was going to play. He had never been on an Olympic team before. He had a World Championship but wanted the Olympic medal. So it was a no-brainer, especially when those two committed, and once the team was built, I kind of knew it was going to be special.”

All’s well that ends well, and this couldn’t have gone or ended any better than it already has. They had hard-fought wins, blowouts, and moments where the team’s most famous three names shined to make a point to the world.
