Russell Westbrook was traded by the Los Angeles Lakers last week in a three-team move that landed D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt in LA and sent Westbrook to the Utah Jazz. This team has a clear path right now, and Westbrook couldn’t fit their current plans.

That’s why they’re studying every option on the table to try to find the best situation for Russ and themselves. A buyout is on the cards right now, but Russ could be willing to stay in Utah and compete with the Jazz, and the team appears to be open to that option too.

Still, this doesn’t mean that the rest of the NBA isn’t paying attention to everything happening with Russ, and a series of teams have been linked with the former NBA MVP, including the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat

Russell Westbrook Already Speaking With Potential New Teams

The Los Angeles Clippers were also mentioned among these teams, as Russ could help them reach the next level this season. Paul George has publicly recruited his former teammate, but it remains to be seen if the Clips feel the same way about Russ.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Clippers have received permission to talk with the player, and they have begun conversations regarding a potential deal. Of course, they won’t be the only ones talking with Russ, but the Clippers could be greatly benefitted from this move.

This is already an intense race, and as the days go by, more franchises will be interested in seeing if they can get Russ. Shaquille O’Neal thinks Russ should be bold enough to sign with the Clips and try to get revenge on the Lakers, but others suggest that Russ’ recent past could prevent him from taking that route
