On a recent episode of ‘First Take,’ Mad Dog’ Russo and Stephen A. Smith engaged in a lively exchange, with Russo taking the opportunity to roast Smith for his recent purchase of a mansion in Miami.

‘Mad Dog’ Russo: “Who in their right mind would ever want to be in a town like Miami in the middle of July when it’s 105 degrees? People leave Miami in the summertime. They get the condo for January, February, and March, and then they get the hell out of town. It’s good for alligators, not for human beings.”

“What dope would buy a house in Miami or a condo in May and spend their summers there? You can’t run, you can’t play golf. I have a kid who’s going to get a job in West Palm Beach. He’s looking forward to it. I said, ‘Colin, you’re crazy. It’s a disaster. You can’t do anything; you have to stay in an air-conditioned house.'”

“So I was trying to think, what idiot, what dope, would sit there and buy a mansion in Miami and not be able to go outside? He bought a mansion to stay inside with the air conditioning. And then I figured out who that dope was—Stephen A. That’s his new home. Miami in the middle of the summertime.”

“What real estate guy nailed this sap? That is as bad as it gets. Why would you ever do that?”

Stephen A. Smith: “First of all, you don’t know what I bought. Number one. Number two, I have several residences. I move how I move. And number three, any man would tell you this—you clearly don’t know much about Miami.”

“You need to get yourself some shades. You said people aren’t outside. Well, I just took a trip there last week. I was outside.”

‘Mad Dog’ Russo: “What, at midnight when it was 83 degrees?”

Stephen A. Smith: “On South Beach. It was pretty nice. Setai, S-e-T-A-I, that’s the pronunciation. I know of it. Check out the rest. I can give you a couple of other spots too if you need them. Trust me, you don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I have several spots. I’m not there as often as you think, but I’ll let you know something right now—there’s no shame in being around. I think you really, really need to get out more.”

Russo couldn’t understand why anyone would choose to spend their summers in Miami, given the oppressive heat and humidity. He pointed out that most people prefer to visit Miami in the cooler months and avoid the scorching summer weather.

He humorously questioned the wisdom of buying a mansion in Miami just to stay indoors in air conditioning. Russo jokingly referred to the person making such a purchase as an “idiot” and eventually identified this person as Stephen A. Smith. He marveled at the real estate agent who managed to sell a summer home in such a hot location.

Stephen A. Smith, known for his sharp retorts, quickly defended his decision. He clarified that he owns multiple residences and that his time in Miami is limited. He challenged Russo’s understanding of Miami, suggesting that Russo needed to explore the city more.

Russo humorously suggested that the only time it might be bearable to be outside in Miami during the summer is late at night when the temperature drops slightly. Smith countered that he has enjoyed his visits, including time spent on South Beach, and emphasized that there are attractive places in Miami where one can enjoy the weather even in the summer.

The exchange was a quintessential example of the playful banter that fans have come to expect from ‘First Take,’ with both ‘Mad Dog’ Russo and Stephen A. showcasing their personalities and delivering a memorable segment.
