Facing new challenges in the bitter Western Conference, the L.A. Lakers have responded by bringing in All-Star big man, Andre Drummond.

Once news of his arrival was made public, Lakers legend Magic Johnson responded with beaming optimism.

Congratulations to @AndreDrummond for signing with the @Lakers and welcome to Los Angeles! Andre is just what the Lakers need; a big man who can score, rebound, and defend.

— Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) March 28, 2021

A classic rim-runner, Dre should help L.A. strengthen their inside presence by grabbing rebounds and protecting the paint. Still, some remain doubtful of his impact…

score? defend? have we been watching the same drummond

Magic said the same thing when the lakers signed gasol Drummond and Davis won’t fit and Drummond will be benched for the playoffs bad move by Drummond signing with LA

Andre Drummond and defense were mentioned in the same sentence ???

If the Lakers even make the finals the Nets will destroy them in 5

Drummond definitely has his flaws, and fans have obviously noticed.

But if anybody is capable of bringing the best out of him, it’s got to be LeBron James, who seems to have a history and reputation of making his teammates better. If Drummond can be what the Lakers need him to be, then it really could go leaps and bounds in solidifying their effort to repeat as NBA Champions.

There are a lot of reasons to be optimistic…
