The Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks recently engaged in a nail-bitting matchup in the NBA. It resulted in a heart-crushing defeat for the Mavericks.

The final score stood at 127-125 in favor of the Warriors. During the game, one rare incident took place where the entire Mavericks team was guarding the wrong side of the court. No, we are not even kidding.

The above-attached video is from the third quarter of the game following a timeout by the Mavericks. It was indeed hilarious and confusing to see the Mavs players lineup at the wrong end of the floor. But Mavericks owner Mark Cuban later explained how it was the referees’ fault for the huge confusion.

“For those wondering about the play with 1:54 to go on the 3rd, let me explain what happened. The ref called Mavs ball. The announcer announced it. Then there was a timeout. During the time out the official changed the call and never told us. Then when they saw us line up as if it were our ball, he just gave the ball to the warriors. Never said a word to us, they got an easy basketball. Crazy that it would matter in a 2 point game. Worst officiating non-call mistake possibly in the history of the NBA. All they had to do was tell us and they didn’t.”

Cuban explained the reason behind the confusion and also labeled it as the worst officiating non-call mistake in the history of the NBA.

Cuban’s anger is understandable. After all, his team ended up losing the game by just two points. Had this call been correct, it may have tilted the game in favor of the Mavericks because at the time, the game was tied at 87-87.

The Dallas Mavericks Once Again Fall Below .500

The Dallas Mavericks‘ defeat against the Warriors means, they now have a 36-37 record. The Luka Doncic-led team has once again fallen below .500 and are currently the ninth seed in the conference.

Considering the Mavericks are expected to be one of the best teams in the conference, their current record does no justice to those expectations from fans.

With just nine games left in the season, it’s high time for the Mavericks to work on their weaknesses and make a late push to clinch a spot in the postseason.
