Minnesota Timberwolves narrowly avoided elimination on Tuesday but had no luck avoiding a hostile crowd in enemy territory. In a video that has gone viral on social media, one Mavericks fan can be seen trash-talking Timberwolves players during their walk back to the locker room after the game.

“You’re going home in two days,” yelled the fan. “[Karl-Anthony Towns] you’re the zestiest player in the league!”

The Timberwolves narrowly won the game yesterday to avoid the sweep and force a Game 5 at home. Anthony Edwards, who struggled in the previous games, scored 29 of his team’s 105 points and nearly finished with a triple-double at 10 rebounds and 9 assists in 40 minutes of action. But even after a victory, the Wolves face a steep uphill climb to keep their season alive.

So far, the Dallas Mavericks have been the story of the playoffs so far, and their fans are confident in their ability to close the series and end the Timberwolves season. In the video, you can see the reaction from the players, and both Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards looked ready to prove the fans wrong. Only time will tell if they can pull it off.

After losing the first three games, and pulling off a miracle in Game 4, the Timberwolves will have to fight again in two days to continue their season. As winners of the first two rounds, many were expecting the Wolves to make a run to the NBA Finals but the red-hot Mavericks have put a stop to those ambitions and they’ve got them on the ropes.

As the face of the team, young star Anthony Edwards is shouldering most of the blame for this series and he’s been mediocre overall with 37% efficiency through the first three games. he was better in Game 4, but the Timberwolves will need that for every game moving forward if they want any chance to advance to the Finals.

The Last Stand For The Timberwolves

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving torched the Timberwolves in the first three games, averaging 60.3 points per game to take a 3-0 series lead. With some matchup adjustments, the Timberwolves were able to offer some resistance defensively and they kept the Mavericks’ duo down to 33% shooting from the field.

Even so, they are going against NBA history in their mission to win the series. To date, NBA teams with a 3-0 series lead are 155-0 and only a handful of teams have ever forced a Game 7. For Edwards and his team to even think about such a comeback, they’ll have to win at least two more times — and at least once more back in American Airlines Center.

Perhaps with the Wolves’ talent and depth, combined with some motivation from the trash-talking of Mavericks fans, the Timberwolves can shock the world and make things interesting in the West.

For now, though, Mavs fans everywhere are having fun with the results if Edwards does return to their city again this season, they’ll be ready to get under his skin with all kinds of wild proclamations. For their sake, and the sake of that bold Mavericks fan, they better hope to end this series swiftly or things could get very ugly.
