Michael Jordan is one of the biggest figures in NBA history. He is usually regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time. So, one would think that he’s never faced racism.

However, before becoming the GOAT of the NBA, Jordan was still a black guy under all the success. Jordan revealed in a 1992 interview that he faced racism when he was just 15 years old. In retaliation, Jordan threw a soda at the girl who there called him a n****r.

“I threw a soda at a girl for calling me a n****r,” Jordan said. “It was when ‘Roots’ was on television. I was 15. It was a very tough year. I was really rebelling. I considered myself a racist at that time. Basically, I was against all white people. It was hundreds of years of pain that they put us through, and for the first time, I saw it from watching ‘Roots.'”

MJ added: “The education came from my parents. You have to be able to say, ‘OK, that happened back then. Now, let’s take it from here and see what happens.’ It would be very easy to hate people for the rest of your life, and some people have done that. You’ve got to deal with what’s happening now and try to make things better.”

Michael Jordan eventually got over it. But it’s still sad to think that MJ faced such an issue.

Keeping that in mind, it’s no surprise that Jordan has done a lot for the black community. He makes donations to the community from time to time. Apart from that, ‘His Airness’ also made a $10 million donation to ‘Make-A-Wish’ foundation on his 60th birthday.

It goes without saying that Jordan cares about his community. Jordan facing racism during his childhood must have played a role in it.

Michael Jordan Is A Man Of Golden Heart

Michael Jordan is undoubtedly a great player, and for many he is the GOAT. But being the GOAT doesn’t mean playing excellently during games. It also means taking care of the community that you belong to.

MJ has done that over the years. So much so that Mike has donated over $100 million to several charities, including racial equality.

Jordan has done so throughout his life and will continue to do so. The world needs more people like the Chicago Bulls legend.
