The Brooklyn Nets are a team that is doing great as of right now, and they are currently the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference and a legitimate contender. Still, that doesn’t mean that they can’t get better with a trade ahead of the deadline.

Recently, Jack Simone of Heavy proposed a three-team trade that would send Kyle Kuzma and Kelly Oubre to the Brooklyn Nets. This deal would also give them veterans Mason Plumlee and Will Barton. The Nets themselves would have to send out Ben Simmons and a first-round pick to get the deal done.

Brooklyn Nets Receive: Kelly Oubre Jr., Kyle Kuzma, Mason Plumlee, Will Barton

Charlotte Hornets Receive: Ben Simmons, 2023 First-Round Pick (from BKN via HOU or PHI), 2027 Second-Round Pick (Top-55 Protected via WAS)

Washington Wizards Receive: Terry Rozier, Patty Mills

There is no doubt that this deal could potentially be a good move for the Brooklyn Nets. Though moving Ben Simmons would hurt due to his playmaking and defense, getting multiple scoring wing players in Kelly Oubre Jr., Kyle Kuzma, and Will Barton could help them with depth and improve their offense. Oubre Jr. and Kuzma are both solid defenders who can guard multiple positions as well.

The Hornets would be getting Ben Simmons in this scenario, likely hoping that he can return to All-Star form in the future. His lack of aggression on offense is definitely a problem, but perhaps getting plenty of touches on a rebuilding franchise can help Simmons regain confidence in his scoring. For the Wizards, this is about moving on from the contracts of Kyle Kuzma and Will Barton, both of whom can leave the franchise in free agency. Getting Terrier Rozier isn’t a bad return whatsoever.

Overall, this trade proposal is good for all three teams. It remains to be seen if any of the teams pursue a trade with a similar framework, but it is definitely intriguing enough for them to explore that route.

The Brooklyn Nets Could Trade For A Star

Though getting multiple good role players could be beneficial for the Brooklyn Nets, it seems as though they are aiming for a higher-tier player prior to this year’s deadline. Some reports have indicated that the Brooklyn Nets are looking for a star, and it’ll be interesting to see if they can land one ahead of this year’s deadline.

Collins is exactly what the Nets are looking to add at this February’s trade deadline. An executive told Heavy Sports that the Nets are looking to add a “star” and “power-forward-like player.”

“The Nets are definitely looking for a deal, but they want to bring in a star who can play alongside what they have. They’d be in the market for a power-forward type, maybe a rebounder,” the executive suggested to Heavy Sports.

The Brooklyn Nets don’t necessarily have the assets as of right now to get a star, but they could still make a win-now move to maximize Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving this season.

Hopefully, we see the Brooklyn Nets add even more talent ahead of this year’s trade deadline. Though they are already very good, they could end up being the favorite with a move or two.
