The NBA world has received bad news today, as Kevin Durant won’t play against the Los Angeles Lakers in tonight’s game.

This comes after the Phoenix Suns clinched the 4th spot in the Western Conference, and they’re trying to keep all their core pieces healthy for the start of the NBA playoffs.

However, this decision means that fans won’t have the chance to see Kevin Durant going against LeBron James for the first time in five years. It didn’t happen with the Brooklyn Nets, and after KD was traded to the Suns, many people thought this duel would happen again. Nevertheless, the situation has changed for the players and their followers.

Many fans reacted to this, with some taking shots at Durant for running away from LeBron.

Somebody used a Kobe Bryant meme to call KD ‘soft.’

Several lamented this situation, expressing how much they wanted to see this.

One fan blamed the players for preventing us from watching this duel.

One person was more positive than the rest, saying that we will see this duel taking place in the Western Conference Finals.

Once again, we have to wait to see KD taking on LeBron on an NBA court. They hadn’t played against each other since Christmas 2018 when KD was still a part of the Golden State Warriors, and LeBron was playing his first season with the Purple and Gold.

Kevin Durant Speaks On His Rivalry With LeBron James

This has become one of the biggest rivalries in the modern NBA, but it’s been almost five years since we saw a duel of the same. KD recently reflected on his clashes against LeBron over the years, showing nothing but respect for the 4x NBA champion.

Now, due to ankle management, we’ll miss another duel between Durant and James. Hopefully, we can see these two going at it in the playoffs. The Lakers are still fighting for a playoff spot, while the Suns know they’re one of the four best teams in the West.

Still, if they clash in the postseason, that duel will be a great one, given the big rivalry between these two players.
