The Brooklyn Nets have seen their share of ups and downs this season. Considering the amazing team that the management assembled, the Nets looked like the downright favorites to win the 2022 NBA Championship.

But due to several factors, the Nets are still battling for a play-in spot. Fortunately, the team was delivered with one piece of good news recently. Kyrie Irving, who was playing as a part-time player due to his stance on the COVID-19 vaccine was finally allowed to become a full-time player.

Moreover, fans didn’t have to wait too long for his home debut this season as Brooklyn faced off against the Charlotte Hornets. Although since his return as a part-time player, Kai has put in some great games, that wasn’t the case against the Hornets.

Irving looked a bit rusty, which ultimately played a crucial role in his team getting defeated at the hands of the Hornets. Evidently, Kyrie was asked about his thoughts on the loss and what was the reason for it. Well, to be honest, Irving’s answer was a tad bit surprising.

“I wish we had a day of rest at least.”

Normally, it wouldn’t have been such a big deal for a player to ask for a bit of rest before a packed schedule. But Kai is definitely not in a place to make that excuse. He missed the first few months of the season and over the last few weeks, he was only active as a part-time player.

Keeping that in mind, NBA fans not only called out the Brooklyn Nets superstar but also trolled him hilariously. Here are some of the best reactions:

The-Pharcyde: “Kyrie of all people saying this lmao.”

jpaxlux: “To be fair, this is me whenever I come back to university/work after a vacation.”

ResponsibleContact39: “Time for Kyrie to take off half the games. The mandate is over. Lol. Just like last season.”

resilientenerygy: “Maybe we see Will go to a Nets game and smack kyrie next.”

JasonCKo: “Least self aware athlete ever smh.”

DirksSexyBratwurst: “It’s kind of funny because he’s had more games of “rest” than other player, but f**k back to backs.”

Calexander3: “Every team has to play back to backs. Kyrie complaining about it after hardly playing this season is so lame.”

SlimKai2145: “Kevin Durant Should Smack Him Like Will Smith Smacked Chris Rock.”

Bim_Jeann: “Half man half a season.”

BetweenTheBuzzAndMe: “Kyrie has had more rest than basically anybody else in the NBA, pipe down.”

Although playing back-to-back games is never easy for any NBA player, considering the rest that Kyrie has already had this season didn’t sit well with the fans.

The only way for him to redeem his questionable statement will be to go off in the next few games and help the Nets book a place in the play-in tournament.
