Steven Adams On Comparison With Dennis Rodman’s Rebounding Science: “He’s Wild, Mate. I’m Too Stupid For That, Mate. I Don’t Have Enough Brain Cells For That One, Brother. I Just Stand There.”

The Memphis Grizzlies have been in sensational form in the 2021-22 NBA season. Although the team’s cornerstone player is none other than the high-flying guard Ja Morant, there are several other key players on the roster.

One such player is the veteran center, Steven Adams. Throughout his career, Adams has been dominant when it comes to grabbing rebounds. This season as well, the 28-year-old has fulfilled his role beautifully.

With just a few games left in the season, Adams is averaging 10.0 rebounds per game.  While Adams can occasionally score baskets if his team requires them, his major focus is on getting the boards on both ends of the floor.

Talking about such abilities, fans can certainly connect the dots and relate Adams’ playing style to that of NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman. Rodman made a living out of rebounding the ball with ease.

To be honest, the former NBA superstar made it look easy. In reality, rebounding the ball like a piece of cake is not everyone’s cup of tea. Even though Adams is averaging 10.0 RPG, he still believes he is nowhere near Rodman in terms of rebounding skills.

“Just stand on the opposite side that they’re shooting. That’s basic enough. … You can go into the Dennis Rodman stuff, I reckon. … He’s major science. He’s talking about, like, the rotations of the ball. He’s wild, mate. That’s a different level. Nah, I’m too stupid for that, mate. Not enough brain cells for that one, brother. I just stand there, mate. You know what I mean?”

Dennis Rodman and his ability to rebound the ball is arguably second to no one in NBA history. In fact, he is even considered the best rebounder of all time.

And as stated by Adams, he considered rebounding a science. Keeping that in mind, it is very unlikely that fans will see a player like Rodman in the league in the near future.
