The Miami Heat were pegged to make the NBA Finals with ease after a blowout win in Game 3 to take a 3-0 series lead.

The Celtics have now won three in a row, including a heart-stopping Derrick White buzzer-beater to save their season in Game 6. With the real possibility of Miami blowing a 3-0 lead, fans are wondering if this is the worst choke job in history.

Fans were quick to bring up the 3-1 Finals lead that the Warriors ended up blowing after going 73-9 in the regular season.

Analyst Sam Amico weighed in by saying the historic nature of what’s happening to Miami means it has to be their crown to bear.

Some fans aren’t happy with the refereeing in the series and especially Game 6, so they believe that has influenced the series enough for this to not be the biggest choke.

After losing just nine games in the regular season and going 40-2 at home, the Warriors loss to the 2016 Cavaliers is still worse to fans.

Fans continued dragging the Warriors.

We have never had a 3-0 comeback in the NBA before, so the historic nature of this collapse is worse to many even if the Heat were an eighth seed.

Everyone will discuss the Warriors, which arguably will always hold the title. Stephen Curry is a more notable player, and the fact that it happened against LeBron James and in the Finals makes it all the more engaging. From 73-9 to losing three straight playoff games, including two at home, was just as disastrous as what may happen if Miami loses Game 7.

Does A 3-0 Choke Take The Crown?

No team should blow a 3-0 lead, regardless of the circumstances. If a team wins a series after being down 3-0, and the coach admits he lost his locker room, it is a massive choke. The Heat have lost two home games since taking the 3-0 lead and will now have to reckon with winning this series in Boston, a venue they lost Game 7 in last season.

The Warriors choke will be the answer for many, but it won’t be an undisputed choice when thinking of playoff series chokes anymore. We can say that Miami losing and what the Warriors did ultimately is 1A and 1B of the biggest chokes we’ve seen in NBA history.
