The Los Angeles Lakers pipped the Golden State Warriors 124-111 on Thursday night at the Crypto.com Arena, and they did so with LeBron James playing for only 26 minutes and scoring 13 points. And all that with fans speculating that he may have been drinking before the game.

Of course, social media’s a tricky customer, and James’ story of him enjoying his Lobos tequila and some tacos had fans on Reddit joking that he may have been tipsy, thereby explaining his poor 5-of-20 shooting.

Here are some hilarious comments:

LeThirsty Thursday

Was posted at like 2ish lol but Lebron was in the weight room by 3 so assuming it’s last night or this past week as a scheduled post but pretty funny

LeBron finally got a team that can produce without him on the court all the time

Bron was off the Lobos but almost had a triple double while commanding the offense well lmao this dude is just insane

Obviously just plugging his Tequila brand. No way he drunk light that before a game

Man after the PTSD we gave him the past 2 seasons, let him have some liquor

Was this actually before the game? That would explain a lot lmaooo

James and Anthony Davis had an off night with 13 and 12 points, respectively, but a pivotal 25-point game by Malik Beasley, along with contributions by Austin Reaves (17 points) and Rui Hachimura (14 points) helped the Lakers maintain a healthy lead and trounce the Warriors.

The Los Angeles Lakers Are Good Even With LeBron James Playing Limited Minutes

Throughout this season, James has played less than 30 minutes twice, and the Lakers have won both those games. This comes as good news for a side that was heavily reliant on the 38-year-old to shoulder the bulk of their scoring.

It was ludicrous that James has played 32+ minutes every game and even breached 40 minutes thrice this season. Injuries to players and inconsistencies aside, this was a team that lacked the offensive firepower. And James bore the entire brunt, all the while putting up scintillating numbers.

Now, the Lakers have 22 games left, but the side’s roster has shown the capability of scoring even if James plays limited minutes, something he could use to later crank up his intensity during the playoffs, should they make it.

The likes of D’Angelo Russell and Beasley have bolstered the offense, and with Reaves and Dennis Schroder chipping in at regular intervals, LA is primed to make a playoff dash.
