Bam Adebayo is one of the best big men in the league. He is a big man who can do a little bit of everything, and his defense and playmaking have long been viewed as some of his best attributes.

Adebayo isn’t a slouch as a scorer either, and he’s currently averaging 19.4 PPG. However, one thing that is missing from Adebayo’s arsenal is the 3PT shot. Many have suggested that he should develop it. However, when speaking on this issue to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Adebayo blasted the outside noise on his shooting, and told everyone to let him “grow as a player”.

Bam Adebayo knows there’s outside pressure for him to develop into a reliable threat from three-point range. But the Miami Heat’s starting center has already grown tired of that narrative.

I feel like it’s annoying that people keep asking me that,” Adebayo said to the Miami Herald. “I feel like just let me grow as a player. Everybody is trying to tell somebody what to do, and a lot of people have never been in my seat and [Erik Spoelstra’s] seat. A lot of people try to tell you what you need to do, what you need to change, this, that and the third. But they’ve never been in this situation.

You don’t have to necessarily be a good 3PT shooter to be an effective player or scorer. For example, a player like Anthony Davis is a capable scorer without having a particularly great 3PT shot.

It remains to be seen what sort of changes we see from Bam Adebayo towards his scoring in the future. He is fairly effective as it is, but a workable 3PT shot could make him even better. Bam Adebayo has previously stated that he wants to be one of the Miami Heat greats, and we’ll see what improvements he makes going forward to reach that goal. He certainly has the talent to achieve his wish.
