Chris Broussard Claims LeBron James Can No Longer Be The No. 1 Player On A Good Team

Chris Broussard makes the huge claim that despite LeBron James' great performances, he can no longer be No. 1 on a good team.

LeBron James has been on a tear recently in terms of individual performances, he had a huge 47-point game on his birthday to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a win. He has been averaging over 34 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists over his last 6 games, but the Los Angeles Lakers still find themselves struggling in the Western Conference.

Having said that, though, LeBron James is still playing some of the best basketball of his career on his way to breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record. There have been suggestions that the Lakers should trade the King, although fans still hope for a trade. The front office might not want to make a win-now move, though, which means that the King is in a weird position, to say the least.

Chris Broussard Says LeBron James Is Not The No. 1 Guy Anymore

In the aforementioned stretch where LeBron James has put up those stats, the Lakers have a 2-4 record, meaning that only a couple of those big nights have translated to wins. And this has led to some suggesting that LeBron might not be able to carry the team himself anymore, something he was capable of in his younger days.

A quote from NBA analyst Chris Broussard has gone viral on social media, with Broussard claiming that despite his huge performances, James is no longer capable of being the man on a good team in the NBA.

“What LeBron is doing is by far the best 20th season we've ever seen. … But he's no longer the No. 1 guy on a good team and he's not as good as his numbers are showing.”

“What LeBron is doing is by far the best 20th season we’ve ever seen. … But he’s no longer the No. 1 guy on a good team and he’s not as good as his numbers are showing.”

The Los Angeles Lakers are very much a bad team, although that isn’t really any fault of LeBron’s. The roster is quite bad, one of the poorest in the league, and that means judging James on these results without Anthony Davis is a bit harsh.

Where LeBron James’ career goes from here, maybe he’s traded in the offseason, remains to be seen. However, if the King can continue to play at this level, he will definitely be the main man on whichever team he decides to go to. The end isn’t quite heard for LeBron James just yet.
