Injuries have been a major hindrance for Derrick Rose throughout his playing career, but the New York Knicks star is looking to make his comeback and has a major upgrade ahead of the upcoming season.

It was a massive blow for the Knicks, who lost Rose to an injury that saw him miss out on a massive chunk of games last season. The side made the postseason facing the Atlanta Hawks, who eventually registered a 4-1 win ending the Knicks’ 2021-22 run.

Rose’s recent update comes as good news for the side. In a social media post by the franchise, the 33-year-old is seen training and revealing how the phase has been and how he’s shaped up while also shedding some pounds.

“Just grinding — head down, tunnel vision and enjoying it with the guys. Last year, I can only say so much, do so much when you’re injured. “I haven’t felt this healthy in a long time. Back to my rookie weight. 195 right now. It’s been, what, 13 years since I’ve been that weight. So it’s a blessing.”

Derrick Rose And The New York Knicks Will Look To Mount Another Playoff Run

Rose was one of the notable absentees for the Knicks last season taking the court for only 26 games. He averaged 12.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 rebounds before an ankle injury derailed his run with the side.

Known for his explosiveness, leaping ability, and speed that allowed him to be quick on both ends of the hardwood, Rose came into the league as one of the point guards to watch out for. However, things went south after the string of injuries that have hampered his career since his MVP run with the Chicago Bulls.

Last year, the team extended their deal with Rose for three more years for $43 million. Ahead of the team’s training camp, they released Quinton Rose and M.J. Walker and signed up forwards Nuni Omot and Garrison Brooks.

The offseason has been a mixed bag for the Knicks as they signed Jalen Brunson to a four-year, $104 million deal, however, they did miss ought on the services of former Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell who will now suit up for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team begins its season against the Memphis Grizzlies in an away game on October 20.
