The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t had the season that they wanted this year. While the team started the year with championship aspirations, they are currently in the play-in tournament, and could potentially miss the playoffs entirely.

However, there is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers still have hope of competing this season. It was recently revealed that the Los Angeles Lakers still have championship aspirations for this season.

“The Lakers still hold championship aspirations this season. Los Angeles personnel maintain that if they can reach the playoffs, the healthy combination of LeBron James and Anthony Davis is still enough to threaten all comers for the Western Conference crown. Some rival teams have echoed that sentiment as well. If the Lakers fail to advance beyond the play-in tournament, changes within the franchise are surely on the horizon.

Frank Vogel has also recently expressed faith in his squad, claiming that if Anthony Davis can return for the play-in/playoffs, and the Lakers get the “right matchup”, they’ll still have a chance of competing.

Frank Vogel on this final stretch of the season and how things could end up for the Lakers: "If [Anthony Davis] is able to come back and we catch the right matchup or catch a team at the right time and if we’re able to catch fire at the right time, we’re going to have a chance"

“If [Anthony Davis] is able to come back and we catch the right matchup or catch a team at the right time and if we’re able to catch fire at the right time, we’re going to have a chance”

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers do have a lot of talent on the roster. In theory, a trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook can compete with anyone on the court. While the fit of Russell Westbrook with LeBron James and Anthony Davis has often been questioned, if they manage to develop chemistry and figure out how to work together, they’ll be a force.

Hopefully, we’ll see the Los Angeles Lakers figure things out. LeBron James is having one of his best scoring seasons, and the Los Angeles Lakers need to capitalize on his fantastic play. Perhaps we’ll see them play better until the end of the season, but this seems fairly unlikely given their inconsistencies all year.
