Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat came up short in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, as they lost to the Boston Celtics. Butler missed a potential game-winner, and the Heat’s dreams of returning to the NBA Finals after 2 years were dashed.

Butler and the Heat played a great series but were not able to close out the Celtics and finish the series off well. Jimmy Butler still believes the Heat can win a championship, and even predicted the Heat will reach the NBA Finals next year and win the NBA championship.

In the post-game press conference after Game 7, Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry spoke to the media.

Jimmy Butler was asked what the focus of the Heat will be this offseason. He noted that the roster will always change every year and shared his gratitude to his teammates to be able to play with them this season.

Butler noted that the Heat have a good team, and they will now recalibrate during the offseason. Butler also boldly predicted that the Heat will win the NBA championship next year:

“Figuring out a way to be consistent. I think we had enough, I think we do have enough. You don’t know who is going to be on the roster any given year. So, like I said, I’m just grateful for the opportunity to play with the guys that I did have the opportunity to play with. It’s been like that every year I’ve played in the league. We had enough. Next year, we will have enough and we’re gonna be right back in the same situation, and we are gonna get it done.”

Jimmy Butler was also asked about him missing the game-winning shot, where he noted that it was a shot he and his teammates thought was good enough, so he has no regrets in attempting it.

Butler also told Jayson Tatum after the game that it was his time, seemingly endorsing him to win the NBA championship against the Warriors. The Celtics will play against the Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, June 2nd.
