Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the league today and has been for the last 10 years. After entering the NBA in 2007, Durant has gone from strength to strength, improving every facet of his game over the years.
KD is lethal from all parts of the court. No distance seems too much for KD, and he is also one of the most clutch players in the league currently. In his early career, there were questions about Durant and whether his slim build would allow him to succeed in the NBA.
And now, after a 14-year career that is still going, the former MVP has laid those questions to rest. After winning 2 NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors, KD became more sure of himself and has supreme confidence every time he steps on the court.
But this wasn’t always the case. Durant had a rough childhood, and the game was his only outlet. While picking up the ball, Durant has admitted to struggling with confidence about his play.
In an interview alongside longtime friend and fellow NBA star Michael Beasley, Durant opened up about his struggles with his confidence in the past. But when he got to college, that’s when he realized he was better than most players and had a chance at reaching the NBA.
“My whole thing was I lacked confidence early. I knew I was nice but I had to play well in order for me to really feel like that. So when I didn’t play well, my confidence always took a hit. It was always up and down so I ain’t really know until I got to college and I was just like ‘oh sh*t, I’m better than him, better than him. He can’t shake me, he can’t stop me’. I started gaining that confidence and then after a while, I’m like… this is my life now.”
Durant has become one of the most influential players in the league. Because of his gifted abilities as a scorer, he has redefined what it means to take over games. And he is still in his prime years, and will want to add to his legacy.
