Tracy McGrady was one of the most talented players in NBA history. The former swingman couldn’t win a championship, injuries were ruthless with him, but his talent was off the chart, even matching all-time greats in terms of quality.
T-Mac not only enchanted fans but colleagues. He was on a different level, and although his career wasn’t as honored as others, McGrady left a huge mark on the game and those who watched him play.
Former teammate Wilson Chandler recently talked about McGrady, explaining how great he really was and who he can be compared to. In an interview with Ball Don’t Stop podcast, Chandler threw some flowers to T-Mac, putting him at the same level as Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant.
“T-Mac is up there with the Kobes and the KDs talent wise. He didn’t have the same longevity as them due to injury, but his peak impact and ability was up there with them.”
Chandler played with McGrady on the New York Knicks, and he has the best memories from the 42-year-old.
“Played with Mac on the Knicks, good dude. I was a big fan,” he commented on Instagram.
McGrady was something else during his best days. He could never put his hands on a Larry O’Brien trophy, but there’s no doubt he always gave his best to take his teams to the promised land.
Injuries and bad luck often play major roles in NBA careers. Sometimes players have everything to be successful but external factors prevent them from fulfilling their potential. T-Mac is a big example of that. Fortunately, people like Chandler got the chance to watch and play with him and still remember what he was capable of doing.
