Kevin Durant Has Reportedly Told Brooklyn Nets Owner Joe Tsai That He Needs To Choose Between Him Or Head Coach Steve Nash And GM Sean Marks

Kevin Durant’s summer so far has been one abundant with wild speculation. With the Kyrie Irving contract extension saga dragging on initially, many questioned what it would mean for KD. He let the NBA world know exactly how he felt about the turmoil, putting in a trade request to find his way out of the organization to a new situation.

He has been criticized a fair bit for his actions, but there haven’t been many new updates on the situation in recent times. The deal seemed to have stalled, with the Nets’ asking price for KD perhaps proving to be too high. Durant was supposed to meet with Nets owner Joe Tsai recently to discuss his future with the franchise or out of it.

And now Shams Charania has reported what exactly was said during the meeting. Durant has once again made waves by reportedly claiming that he has asked Tsai to choose between keeping him or keeping General Manager Sean Marks and Head Coach Steve Nash.

“In a face-to-face meeting with Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai over the weekend, All-NBA star Kevin Durant reiterated his trade request and informed Tsai that he needs to choose between Durant or the pairing of general manager Sean Marks and coach Steve Nash, sources tell The Athletic.

“Durant stated he does not have faith in the team’s direction, sources said.

“Durant and Tsai spoke in London on Saturday and sources described the discussion as transparent and professional.

“The Nets have direct knowledge of the reasons behind Durant’s request, sources said, and understand that the 12-time All-Star will continue to be resolute in his stance. Durant is believed to want a change of scenery heading into his 16th season.”

This is a curveball not many expected, but it remains to be seen how Tsai will deal with these demands. Asking for two key members in an organization to be fired is quite the demand, and it is surely not a decision that can be made lightly. The fallout from these reported demands becoming public is surely going to be an interesting one.
