Karl-Anthony Towns is widely viewed as one of the best big men in the league, and his offensive prowess is highly regarded in NBA circles. There are also people who believe that he is the best shooting big man of all time. Currently, Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 24.9 PPG, 9.9 RPG, and 3.7 APG, while shooting 41.2% from beyond the arc.
There is no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns is already one of the greatest players to ever put on a Minnesota Timberwolves jersey. He is a fantastic scorer, and there’s no doubt that his ability to get his buckets from all three levels is astounding.
When we talk about the top big men in the league, we generally think of Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic. Both of those players are generally viewed as MVP-type players, who have versatile all-around games.
Recently, Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett has claimed that Karl-Anthony Towns is a better scorer than both Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid when talking about the best big men in the game. (4:20)
“I think KAT, out of all of them [Towns, Embiid, Jokic] is the best scorer.”

There is no doubt that this is a relatively controversial take from Kevin Garnett. Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic are both currently averaging more points than Karl-Anthony Towns. With that being said, Karl-Anthony Towns is definitely the best shooter among them, and he is definitely capable of explosive scoring performances. He recently became the first center since Shaquille O’Neal to record a 60 point game, which is a fantastic achievement for him.
We’ll see if Karl-Anthony Towns is ever able to prove that he is a better scorer than Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid in the future, and perhaps we’ll see him hit another level later in his career. There’s no question that Karl-Anthony Towns is a supremely talented player, and he’s definitely been playing some inspired basketball this season.
