As one of the best young players in the world, Luka Doncic has the entire basketball world dreaming of playing alongside him.

Besides his brilliant and impressive bag of tricks for scoring the ball, Doncic is also an expert playmaker who knows how to set his teammates up for easy buckets.

And while Luka would make a great pairing next to many other stars, he has yet to be joined by a superstar partner. Maybe that could change.

LeBron James Would Reportedly Enjoy On-Court Partnership With Luka Doncic

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Lakers superstar LeBron James can’t help but think about what a duo with Doncic might look like from his end. Apparently, he has always had a desire to link up with the European baller, even if it’ll never actually happen.

(via HoopsHype):

Appearing on The Ringer’s Bill Simmons’ Podcast, ESPN analyst and known LeBron-whisperer Brian Windhorst mentioned the Dallas Mavericks as a sneaky candidate for the final phase of LeBron James’ career, due to his affinity for Luka Doncic. This isn’t the first time he’s mentioned such a concept; five months ago on ESPN’s NBA Today, Windhorst hinted at it, saying that LeBron would love playing with Luka.

It’s no mystery why James appreciates Luka’s game so much. In a lot of ways, Luka’s skill set is similar to his own, and there’s a lot of mutual respect between them.

At the very least, the Mavericks star is at least on a similar trajectory as LeBron was, and there is no telling what’s in store for him next.

“His size. He’s gigantic. A 6’8″ guard. He’s 225 pounds. He has the ball on a string, and more importantly, his vision. He can control a game. He doesn’t even have to shoot. He would walk the ball up the court 10 straight times and get to his spot every single time. Just because of his pace. He knows where he comes off a pick and roll, if they’re hard-showing, if they’re hedging, or if they’re dropping the pick and roll, he knows I can turn the corner ’cause I got this shoulder, and I know the third line of defense, when I get there, if I just slow down, just slow down and use my pivots, not even jump, just the Euro one-two, this guy’s flying by. He’s flying by every time. It’s the mind,” LeBron said on what makes Doncic so great.

At almost 40 years old, LeBron James is running out of time to add to his list of teammates, and the Lakers do not have the means to trade for Doncic anytime soon. The time may have already passed for them to link up on the court.

The truth is, if he really wants to play with Luka, he’ll have to live with just picking him up on his All-Star team this February.

Otherwise, it’ll have to be LeBron who leaves LA to create another superteam.
