Luka Doncic’s incredible regular season for the Dallas Mavericks shows his commitment to winning an NBA Championship with the franchise, and while he made that point very clear, he’s also wary of how the unknown future can have a say in the matter.

The guard has been instrumental in the Mavericks’ 8-6 run averaging 34.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists. His production has been stellar as he’s pipped the likes of Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid so far in the season.

That said, Doncic hasn’t been shy of voicing his honest opinion when it comes to his future with Dallas. Speaking to MARCA in an exclusive interview ahead of the 2022-23 season, the 23-year-old outlined his objective. (via Mavs Moneyball)

“I do not plan on changing my objective stay with and win in Dallas. Although of course, in future nothing is known, but my idea and I hope to accomplish win in Dallas.”

While the thought is enough to raise eyebrows, the Dallas fandom can breathe easy if they focus on the larger picture. The team last won a championship in 2011, and the onus will be on Doncic to help the side clinch the silverware for the second time.

Luka Doncic Has Had A Hot Start To The Season

He may have missed the game against the Houston Rockets, but the proof of Luka Doncic’s scintillating form is in the pudding. He’s already been labeled as a serious MVP contender after pouring 30+ points in eight straight games.

Perhaps his best game of the season came against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Slovenian pulled the game in the Mavericks’ favor with a whopping 42 points to his name. The stellar effort included 13 boards and 10 assists.

He followed it up with another match-winning effort against the Los Angeles Clippers with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists, and one of them was a dagger from downtown that tilted the game in Dallas’ favor.

Much of the team’s hopes ride on Doncic, and while he’s uncertain of what the future holds, the unit will know its bright days are in the offing each time the guard shows up and wins games for them.
