Draymond Green might become the first player of the Golden State Warriors trio to leave the team, as he has revealed that he doesn’t expect to receive a contract extension from the Golden State Warriors prior to the season starting. Green has made it clear that he wants a max contract extension from the Warriors.
NBA fans are stunned at the possible impasse that Draymond has arrived with the Golden State Warriors. Unless he has a fantastic season that sees him contribute more to the scoring load of the team, it’ll be unlikely for him to play up to his max contract value, something that has NBA fans bracing for the possibility of Draymond leaving the Warriors.

Bro actually thinks he’s gonna get a max

He wants to leave.

Not worth a max

If he wants to win more championships, he’s gonna have to take a team friendly contract. Period. He ain’t in his prime and he’s a system guy at this point in his career. Not a max talent anymore and I love Dray.

any long term success both green & klay going to need to a discount soon
to keep both poole & wiggins & pay what klay and what draymond may want … that's a 450-500 million dollar payroll & no owner is going to do that
duncan/ginobli took pay cuts to extend the spurs dynasty

Considering the options Draymond could have next offseason, is it really worth the Golden State Warriors letting a team legend like him walk as a free agent? EVen if Draymond is overvaluing himself, shouldn’t the Warriors pay him what he wants as a sign of gratitude for his service to the franchise?
Will Draymond Green Actually Leave The Warriors?
Considering the salary hell the Golden State Warriors have been in, it is actually quite likely the Warriors let Draymond walk if that means re-signing the younger options in Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins. The team also has a long-term replacement in Jonathan Kuminga lined up. Maybe he could make progress this season and make the Warriors comfortable with him being the one to take Draymond’s spot.
The intangibles that a player like Draymond brings to the court are hard to replicate by anyone. His leaving would be a hole in the Warriors franchise, so the team needs to keep that in mind while dealing with his extension.
If the Warriors bow out, the Lakers have been angling to keep their salary cap open for next season, so Dray might be a prime candidate for the Lakers’ free agency plans next season after the Russell Westbrook contract is off the books.
