The Los Angeles Lakers now have a 5-3 record after beating the Houston Rockets two times in a row. It seems as though they are finally starting to string some wins together, and many may have been shortsighted to write them off after a slow start. Despite the latest game being very close, the Lakers managed to close it out, beating the Rockets 119-117.
Lakers fans were ready to celebrate after the recent win, with many people expressing great sentiments about the team. Some fans from other fanbases pointed out that the Lakers beat a tanking team by only 2 points.

Despite some of the criticisms about the Los Angeles Lakers having a close game against a subpar Houston Rockets team, at the end of the day, wins are wins. While the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t close to looking like the peak version of themselves yet, it does look as though they have figured some things out. Their entire big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook had great numbers after the game, and hopefully, this is a sign of things to come.
Russell Westbrook has previously stated that everyone on the team has one goal, and that is winning an NBA championship. The regular season will provide the Lakers with the opportunity for their stars and veterans to mesh, and for everyone to get used to their roles. There’s no question that some sacrifice is going to be required from their big 3 to ensure championship success. However, they do have two unselfish playmakers in LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, and they’ll likely figure it out sooner rather than later.
It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Lakers do indeed become the contender they are on paper, and it is possible that things will go wrong. However, most would argue that they have the star power to be competitive regardless, and hopefully, that is true.
