Nikola Jokic just finished another incredible season with the Denver Nuggets, leading the team in every stat, confirming that he is a superstar in the league. All these accolades granted him the 2022 NBA MVP award, becoming the second consecutive player to win back-to-back MVPs in the past four years.
Unfortunately, the Golden State Warriors eliminated the Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs, with Jokic becoming one of the few MVP winners to be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs while winning zero games.
That’s part of the past now and Jokic is focused on next season, where Denver will have Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. back to help Jokic. Meanwhile, he’s having a good time in his country, riding horses, one of his favorite activities besides basketball. During a recent interview, the Joker talked about his post-retirement plans, which is pretty much what he does every offseason:
Nikola Jokic:

“My dream is to move back to Serbia and become a trotting coach after my basketball career. My country is unfortunately the worst in Europe in trotting and there are maybe 150 starting horses and it is very difficult to start abroad. But it’s still great fun.”
Jokic is very passionate about this sport, and before basketball, he wanted to become a pro at trotting. Right now, he’s one of the best players in the NBA, but that won’t last forever. He has created a post-retirement plan, but as of now, he’s still young and hopefully has a long career ahead of him. Once his retirement comes, he’ll have a solid plan to keep doing fun stuff.
