Paul George wasn’t so worried about the Clippers losing to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs. The swingman didn’t have the best game on Tuesday night, barely scoring 10 points in an elimination game. After the Clippers blew a 3-1 lead and were eliminated from the playoffs by the Nuggets, they received a lot of criticism; the Clips were one of the favorites to win the NBA championship this year and this is considered a bust season by many people.
However, PG doesn’t think that way. As a matter of fact, he claimed he never believed it was a ‘championship or bust season’ for the Clippers. After the game was over, PG13 talked with reporters, expressing his opinion on how things went down for the Clippers and what’s next for them. PG said the team can only get better from now.
“I think internally, we’ve always felt this is not a championship or bust year for us. We can only get better the longer we stay together. The more chemistry for this group the better,” he said while talking about the team’s championship expectations.

He went from being in the ‘driver’s seat’ to downplaying all the comments saying they failed big time. This Clippers team was expected to fight with the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals and not meeting those expectations is a failure for everybody in the organization. They blew a 3-1 lead that makes everything worse and now the offseason will present a lot of questions that the team’s front office must answer the proper way.
PG and his teammates know this wasn’t a good outcome. The Clippers were expected to at least make the Conference Finals this year and any other result below that is a complete failure.
