NBA Rumors: Indiana Pacers Are Seriously Considering Trades For Myles Turner Amid Interest From The Charlotte Hornets

2 Min Read

The Indiana Pacers have a massive dilemma on their hands. Does Myles Turner continue being a part of the team as it has taken a turn towards being a younger team? Turner’s injury-proneness has caused him to miss a lot of times over the last few seasons. But what he provides as a stretch-big who is an elite shot-blocker is extremely valuable in the league.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Charlotte Hornets are extremely interested in making a trade to acquire Turner and add him to be the starting center of their promising core. The Hornets are a few steps ahead of the Pacers in their rebuild and could use a quality center like Turner to solidify the hole in the middle.

The Hornets have expressed interest in Turner, those sources said. Still, Indiana, which has the No. 6 pick in the draft, could elect to continue retooling its veteran core rather than rebuild entirely around young players. (h/t The Athletic)

The Charlotte Hornets have built a strong core around All-Star point guard and sophomore year player LaMelo Ball. The players on the team have shown flashes of great potential, but need to finally make the leap into the Playoffs after consecutive seasons with play-in elimination.

The Hornets are in the middle of their head coach hire after Kenny Atkinson declined the role to remain with the Golden State Warriors. Adding Turner to this team makes the Hornets’ job even more appealing, but will add more pressure on whoever ends up in the role.

The Hornets are equipped to play some very exciting basketball and Turner would fit the team very well. Questions around his health will be a major concern, but Turner is on an expiring contract, so the Hornets can end their tenure with him and still have flexibility in the future. The trade package will most likely see the Hornets give up their first round pick from this year.
