In today’s NBA, players have all the power — and everybody knows it. From LeBron James and Kyrie Irving to James Harden and Anthony Davis, many of the game’s top-tier players have forced themselves out of situations they were no longer feeling.
And now, Kevin Durant is on track to do the same thing for the third time in his career.
To make matters even worse for the Nets (who are already at a disadvantage), Durant received a massive six-figure paycheck from the team just moments after doubling down on his trade request.
“On July 1, league sources say Kevin Durant was owed and received an eight-figure check from the Nets — one of two massive advance payments that the disgruntled superstar is scheduled to collect from Brooklyn by Oct. 1 while he’s also in the midst of lobbying the team to move him.”

Kevin Durant is pulling the ultimate troll job on the Brooklyn Nets. Just a while after signing an extension with the club, he gave his trade demand to the team and essentially gave up on trying to make things work.
After weeks of turmoil and chaos, he met with Joe Tsai again to call for the firing of Sean Marks and Steve Nash before walking out with a six-figure paycheck from the team.
At this point, Durant is fully checked out, as has been reported by various sources.
“These are two individuals (Sean Marks and Steve Nash) that there’s a level of displeasure towards, that there might even be a level, like, get these guys out of there. But to actually make that direct ultimatum, that was not something that happened before this weekend. And I think once that happened, it’s clear that mentally, emotionally, like he’s checked out like he’s not there in Brooklyn. And so, that’s what I think has created all of this.”
It’s hard to say how all of this ends. In what has become a war between Durant and the Nets, it doesn’t really seem like anybody will win.
For now, all we can do is sit back and wait to see what comes next over these next few days and weeks — and the Nets will just have to keep on paying the same guy who is screwing them over.
