In the hunt for Kevin Durant, the Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, and Boston Celtics have all been tagged as the most likely landing spots for the 2x Finals MVP.

But there’s another team in the KD sweepstakes that cannot be ignored: the Philadelphia 76ers.

We’ve known for some time they have been angling to get Durant, but one source revealed to Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson just how aggressive they have been since Durant made that ultimatum earlier this week:

76ers feelings on a Kevin Durant pairing are mutual, I’m told. Per someone in the know to @BallySports: “That sh*t is real.” “When KD made that ultimatum, the Sixers were right on the phone.”

The 76ers don’t have the same assets to offer as Boston or Miami, but they could create an intriguing enough package.

Either way, the level of interest is mutual on both sides, and we shouldn’t be surprised if Daryl Morey ends up pulling this off.

It is unknown if Brooklyn and Philadelphia have made any recent progress on a trade.

Previous reports stated that the Suns were at or near the top of the list of teams Durant would like to be traded to. An offseason trade to Phoenix seems unlikely due to the DeAndre Ayton signing. So what happens now? Well, it’s worth noting that, in addition to Boston, Durant also sees Philadelphia as another welcome landing spot, per people familiar with the matter.

With Embiid, Harden, and Durant, the 76ers could bring home a title this upcoming season — but that doesn’t mean it will be easy.

Besides Embiid’s health, the play of James Harden is a major question mark after two seasons of subpar performances.

Still, pairing the trio together would give Pilly their best chance of winning in years. They would be crazy not to at least explore the possibility.
