The Golden State Warriors Could Look To Trade Andrew Wiggins For Rudy Gobert In The Offseason: The Warriors Could Become A Super Team Again

The Golden State Warriors are looking primed to return to the NBA Finals this year.

The Warriors put on an excellent performance in their first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, beating them in 5 games. Many fans expect the Warriors to make a run for the NBA championship this year, as their core group of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are back together and playing well.

But the Warriors may already be looking ahead to the next season, and strengthening their squad in a massive way.

Per ESPN, the Golden State Warriors have considered making a trade for Utah Jazz center and 3-time Defensive Player Of The Year, Rudy Gobert. The report also noted that the Warriors are considering sending Andrew Wiggins, the recent All-Star, to Utah as part of the package for Gobert, along with a few other pieces.

The Warriors getting Rudy Gobert would be a phenomenal move for them. Aside from Draymond Green and maybe Gary Payton II, the Warriors don’t have a defensive specialist.

Pairing Green, a former DPOY in his own right, with Gobert would allow the Warriors to fortify their defense and provided some much-needed rim protection, something they haven’t been able to get from Kevon Looney and their young center James Wiseman, who spent the entirety of this season on the shelf.

As for the Jazz, there have been reports that the franchise is looking at options to overhaul their roster while still keeping Donovan Mitchell.

Landing Wiggins, an excellent two-way player would help them massively, as it would take some of the scoring pressure off of Donovan Mitchell, and also surround him with yet another excellent defender. The move makes sense for both teams, but there have been no reports about whether talks between the two sides have begun or not.
