NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Clippers Reportedly Looking To Trade For Derrick Rose

2 Min Read

Following a disastrous second-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Clippers have started to plan what to do with the team for next season. They assembled a very good team, led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George that ultimately collapsed against the Nuggets, blowing a 3-1 lead in their West semis series.

Now it’s time to make some changes and see if they can turn things around and finally reach that elusive Western Conference Finals and become winners once and for all. They have identified potential targets for the offseason and one big name has been linked with the Clips in recent hours. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, the Clippers are seeking to trade for Derrick Rose of the Detroit Pistons.

The youngest MVP award winner drew a lot of attention in the league this season; Rose looked rejuvenated, posting good numbers with the Pistons, earning a lot of suitors around the association, including the Los Angeles Lakers. Well, now the other team of Los Angeles is looking to bring in the point guard but the job won’t be easy to carry out.

Part of the reason why the Lakers didn’t acquire Rose during the season was Detroit and their reluctance to send the player to any other team in the league. They consider Rose an important piece for their future plans and unless they offer a good package, the 31-year-old will stay in Detroit.

Still, the Clippers have good assets that can unlock negotiations but it remains to be seen if they draw the attention of the Pistons. Landing Derrick would be beneficial for the Clips, who needed a playmaker during their series against the Nuggets. Time will tell if Los Angeles can pull off this move, but as things stand now, that seems very unlikely to happen.
